The Wedge

Adventure beckoned. Despite the low clouds and poor visibility in the mountains, Tundra, Swift, and I ran up to Ship Lake Pass and then up to the summit of The Wedge. The views were nonexistent, but I still enjoyed the burn in the legs. Thanks for another safe and fun spiritual wilderness adventure!

Quadruple Bypass

Adventure beckoned. A Thursday Evening Epic Run up Mt. Magnificent, Vista Peak, Roundtop, and Blacktail Ptarmigan Rocks. A robust 5 hr. 15 min. after work adventure in the fog and mist with Eliseo Marquez, Jason Walsh, and Jesse Gobeli. Excellent!

No Objective

Adventure beckoned. Today wasn't about big peaks or epic adventures. It was about rambling through the park on running shoes enjoying the blue skies and 72 degrees. The sun and slower pace was refreshing, even for the dogs. They found time to eat snow, chase rodents, drink water from tiny streams coming down the mountains, and lay down in snow patches. Sometimes it is neat to have no particular objective other than to relax!

Triangle Peak

Adventure beckoned. Todd Kasteler, Swift, Tundra, and I made our way in the wilderness to Triangle Peak. It was a glorious 7 hour spiritual adventure! Unbelievable scenery, weather, and fun. What a wonderful day in Alaska!

Isaiah 2:3 Many peoples shall come and say: "Come, let us go up to the LORD's mountain, to the house of the God of Jacob, That he may instruct us in his ways, and we may walk in his paths." For from Zion shall go forth instruction, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

Swift's Adventure

Adventure beckoned. Swift, Tundra, and I had about 3 hours this afternoon to play in the mountains. We decided to crank up Ptarmigan Pass and onto a nifty ridge. Swift did a great job being off-leash! He had fun running, climbing, chasing birds, rock hopping, scree and snow sliding, and relishing the Anchorage backcountry views. Swift stayed close by my side the entire route. Occasionally he would venture out ahead with Tundra, but he always looked back and waited. On the steep snow and rock sections, I led the route and Swift followed. What a good dog!

As I write this blog update, two dogs followed me into the office. They are laying down by me and sleeping. I'm pretty sure I have two Alaskan Husky running partners!

The Great Lake Superior

Adventure beckoned. Today we visited one of my favorite destinations: Lake Superior. I love the colors, smells, vastness, sand, rocks, crashing waves, wildlife, and mysteries. Lake Superior has God's fingerprints all over its body. I took a long run along the beach admiring His handywork. What a perfect day in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan!

Memories at Slough Gundy

Adventure beckoned. Memories and exploration at Slough Gundy, Flambeau River State Forest. I spent many days as a teenager jumping off the cliffs and swimming in the river. The good old days!
